I will now say my next desktop will most likely be an Intel one(my current one is AMD with nVidia).

I particularly liked this snippet from the article:

But Michael Larabel, who runs the Phoronix Linux graphics site, believes there could be repercussions.

"Intel's move may cause Nvidia and ATI to rethink open-sourcing some areas of their drivers, improving the level of support, or funneling more resources to their Linux department," Larabel said.


At the very least, it may make them rethink the policy of hostility towards anybody trying to create free/open drivers, since their money is made from the hardware, as that is what we're all really buying.
