Always NEGATIVE
Tivo has to turn a profit. That is a fact.

Yes, we pay for the service, but the service we pay for is recording broadcast television. Tivo has these television stations in a vice. Tivo sales are up. They will continue to go up, especially with satellite customers.

It is obvious to the networks and cable channels that the Tivo is used to skip ads. It is also obvious to ADVERTISERS that Tivo is used to skip ads.

But, if TIVO can make money directly from ADVERTISERS and the NETWORKS, they don't need to make as much money from YOU and I.

This will in turn bring more features, better products, and possibly lower fees.

Right now we have the Thumbs up in the top right during some ads to record the show advertised. I would hope this new parlay into TIVO advertising would be no more intrusive than that.

The only thing TIVO has going for it is numbers...subscriber numbers...and the use of the TIVO by subscribers. Once they stop caring about subscribers, those numbers won't be as impressive to prospective advertisers. So, I hope they play it smart. I think they will. I am very impressed with my TIVO. I will own more someday soon!
