TiVo looks to tune in to advertisers

possible good, but will probably be bad for consumers: I agree.
This will annoy people.
Who wants to watch ads?
We watch them if we have to.
Most Tivo owners I know go on about the ability to skip through ads.

There's got tp be better ways to increase revenue.
