Sour grapes perhaps

The truth is that as your article correctly states the ipod can be loaded with music from a variety of media not just online music stores. I can go to a shop such as amazon, buy the cd and pop it on my ipod. In fact in Britain there are no ipod compatible online music stores, and guess what? the ipod is the most popular mp3 player money can buy. I have 1200 songs on itunes that originated solely from CD and minidisc and no online music store music.
No online music stores make money, only a handful of record companies in the world make all the money in the business. What difference does it make if I buy the same music through an ipod compatible service or an alternative? they provide the same music afterall.
Maybe apple will license the DRM AAC format, but quite frankly I don't think many ipod/itunes users care, since the service is nice to use and they have free will to buy what ever musical device they wish.
