Glaser is an Irrelevant Whiner

Oh the exquisite irony of Rob Glaser complaining about open
formats! Has anyone noticed that the RealPlayer / Realmedia
empire is BUILT on closed formats, extortive pricing, and poor
customer service? For Christ sake, you can't even SAVE most
realmedia formatted files ... just like Microsoft, Real is totally
hostile to it's customers and treats them as nothing more
"eyeballs".

And, has anyone noticed that after all these years, Realplayer
files STILL look like death warmed over? Granted, producers can
choose which level to compress and deliver their files, but by
and large using Realplayer to view video is like being
transported to the early 90's on a dial up modem connection ...

Sorry Rob, you've run out of fear, uncertainty, doubt -- as well
as steam. Consumers have already made their choice -- they
want a player that provides them with the most choices and the
highest quality. The iPod has won the digital music race.
Everything else will be irrelevant. You cannot win this battle by
throwing features at it, locking up the format, and your usual
business practices. Two words: buh-bye.
