I Disagree
Not surprisingly, I disagree. See my post back to Tic, but this is
not an issue invoving consumer harm. The evidence of
monopoly is not in place. There are no price escalations, no
coercive licenses, no barriers to entry. It's just success, plain and
simple. It has been initiated by Apples arguably better product
(it's kosher to disagree). It has also been facilitated by
Microsoft's consolodation of competition under the Windows
Media banner. It's hard to have symathy for businesses that are
shown that integration is the key to success, and then ignore it.
They not only licensed the same "brain" as their immediate
competitors, they presumed to compete with their code
supplier. As an aside, SanDisk supplies Apple with flash and
loses to them in the market, it further proves that this is all
about code. Hardware lacks consequence.

With a total inability to differentiate technologically, the only
option was spin and that requires cash. Microsoft's
announcement that they are throwing cash at Zune is an affront
to their partners.

These vendors are asking us to trust them with our collections.
Trust is the new value add. Do these partners still Trust MS?
With Microsoft's behavior patterns reinforced daily and trust
disintegrating around their platform, is it any wonder Apple has
stayed ahead in this area.
