my main computer is 2001, with a newer video card (2003) since I couldn't use the integrated graphics for gaming, but when I swapped in a newer hard drive to get some data it performed a LOT faster... windows boot time went from 2 minutes to less than 1...

and really, with the race for more power, we've already left the NEED for power in the dust... only gaming and true power users need anywheres near HALF of the available power in systems today...

For corporate machines, excluding networking capability, everything is overkill... to the extent of a tank being used to crush a pop can.
