SAN is a failure
No one wants to admit that the SAN emperor wears no clothes. SAN = added complexity, added expense and no added benefits over direct attached. SANs have created entirely new bureaucracies (storage groups), while NOT delivering on things like SAN-only backups. With a 10Gb network, a NAS box using NFS has a 5 to 1 advantage in speed - and at least that much in cost to implement. SAN was a great idea - for storage vendors . . .
