Actually the Conroe is more efficient than any AMD right now. In terms of MBs processed per kilowatt consumed, Conroe burns less electricity.

AMD:
FX-62 $1031

Conroe:
6800 $999
6700 $513
6600 $300

The 6600 can be overclocked to go faster than the FX-62 and it will not need much of a boost since it beats the FX-62 in a lot of tests. In 64 bit mode, the difference is even more drastic.

Like I said, competition is good for the customer. AMD will answer back with their solution and this will keep prices low for the consumer. Too bad you are a AMD fanboy. I have a AMD that is 4 years old and this convinced me to switch.
