Why should they cry?....
Read the article again. The intelligent reader will glean two facts:
a) Intel will beat AMD to market with quad-core, with AMD's due in mid-2007.
b) AMD's design is more elegant, with 4 cores on a single die.

AMD could cobble together 2 dual-cores quickly also. They have chosen to not compromise quality. Instead, they will wait and release a quality quad-core on a single die, which certainly has some advantages to it.
