Intel, if you want to put AMD to ashes, how about this:
1 2MB Dedicated L2 Cache Per Processor Core, so that's 4 2MB L2 Cache For Four Processor Cores. And 8MB L2 Shared Cache, where each of the processor cores can share the memory controller with each other. That, of course, gives you up to 16MB of L2 Cache total!

Wouldn't be that effective?
