Personally...
I'd tend to think (and believe) that with a 57% drop in net profit that a lot of people are going to be "downsized". Intel's been pushed hard by AMD, and perhaps this is where it's going to hurt.

That aside, it did seem odd to announce that a grip load of middle management were being laid off and that none of the people they were managing were going to be left alone.
