Intel income pain not as deep as feared

Down the road

Where did you hear they let 20% of their work force go? And what division(s) did they sell off?.

It helps to be down the road from a major Intel plant, working with people who have lots of Intel contacts. You didn't think that they would stop with a trivial number of managers, did you?

And they've already sold off the XScale group, with several others slated to follow.

I just read recently that it let 1% (managers) go, and redeployed 12,000 employees to other areas of growth.

That's a euphemism. Intel tells you your job is gone and you get a while to find someone who needs people (IMHO a good system.) Interestingly, quite a few of the recent casualties have been handed checks and shown to the door instead, and from the ones I've seen so far this is the night of the long knives -- the politically savvy are getting rid of anyone who might be a rival, or settling old scores.

And where did get a 57% drop in income.?
