Itanium on track to break the vertical model
Congrats to Gelsinger and team. The end of the proprietary, must buy everything in one place model will soon be over.

The path towards horizonal and standard building blocks is unstoppable. IBM - you're a services company, Sun - you're an OS company (I think ...or you should be).

While IBM and Sun customers are pressured to buy the WHOLE solution, this is a relic of the 1970's ways of doing things.
