I really doubt Cell will go anywhere
I would agree that IBM would like to move Cell into new markets other than PS3. However, I really doubt there is room for Cell when the multi-core X86 market is taking off in such a dramatic fashion.

The competition between Intel and AMD in the x86 market, along with Via and others will just make the x86 stronger and stronger over time with all the SW behind it.

For HPSC, I just don't see X86 scaling to that level. The # of applications needed there is extremely small and already ported to Itanium, Pwr and Sparc. X86 brings nothing to the party in that regard.
