What jobs are being sent overseas? Call Centers? Help Desks? Heads down coding? I don't think these aren't the most important high tech jobs - they're more the low end jobs that nobody wants.

Have you done anything to enhance your skill set during those last 10 years? Have you kept up with the changes in high tech? Become competent in java/j2ee or .net?

I know it sounds harsh, but these kinds of difficult situations make America leaner. I can accept a case to slow the outsourcing to allow more time for workforce retraining, but that's it. It makes us better at adapting to the changing world. That's why you should look internally before blaming the Chinese or Indians for taking your job away. Are you going to just sit there and give up? Why not beat them at their own game?

I say bring it on. As Americans, we may be fat, we might not have the best high schools, but we kick ass in secondary education, and we're the originators of most of the creativity in high tech - whether it be from Apple, Microsoft, Sun, or IBM. Future advancement is going to come from the US, so why not lead the way?
