In fact, 64 bit fellows are much slower!
64 bit cpus are much slower than 32bit ones. Their advantage is the main memory size! Note that 32 bit machines are limited to 4GB maximum. If you have applications that may take advatange of huge main-memory, but less CPU calculations, 64 bit machines can be beneficial. Example applications may be web-servers, database systems, and so on. Otherwise, 64bits are suckers! It's much much slower than 32 bit at much much more expensive cost!
