Just last night...
...I went to the local CD price-gougetorium to root through the used bin to replace a few albums I have had to re-buy several times through the years (do to unscrupulous "borrowing" practices of some of my friends). I got my 3rd copy of Down on the Upside for one reason alone: It was 7 bucks. I don't want the DRM nazi's knocking on my door because I downloaded it, and I hate replacing a media that should have come in a permanent sleeve just like MiniDiscs and 3.5" floppies. Price point was the only deciding factor. Because of my stance on downloading, it was either wait for one of my friends to look away from their CD wallet long enough to do some unscrupulous borrowing of my own, or buy it again. I think tiered pricing is a great idea, and I hope it makes it across the pond sometime soon.
