Lots of anger towards Intel
There seems to be a bit of hostility towards Intel here, but give them credit when it's due. They did something really right with the Core Duo family. I've never been married to any computing camp (I use Macs and PCs and have machines with AMD, Intel and IBM processors), though on the PC side, at least over the past several years, I have leaned towards AMD processors. Not due to any specific dislike of Intel or anything similar. It just seems when I was in the market to buy or build a new machine, AMD options offered the best price-performance and power consumption-performance. That being said, I'm really impressed by the Core Duo family. Their price-to-performance is especially outstanding... enough that when considering building a new PC earlier this year (and added to the fact that Apple announced BootCamp) I ended up purchasing a 20" Intel iMac. On both the Windows and Mac side, the performance of the machine is so outstanding for the price (and the power consumption is really low on the iMac as well), I have no regrets.

This doesn't mean AMD won't turn around and offer something better. Sooner or later they will, and I look forward to it. But Intel was stagnant for a while spitting out chips that cost a fortune, ate up power and produced enough heat to bake a pizza. It's great to see they turned it around and even the Intel naysayers have to admit they finally did good.
