Since when are customers expected to "innovate"?
"This is not innovation, it is stupidity."

There is a business market for systems that do NOT run 64-bit. Due to HP's request, AMD has met that need by packaging up Athlon64s as AthlonXPs.

Businesses are slow, very slow to adopt new technologies. There is nothing "stupid" here. Will you or I pass up the chance to pay $75 for 64-bit capability? Of course not. But then again, you and I are not business, we're individuals.

AMD and HP are supplying what it takes to get money coming in. That's not stupid.
