Include cooling fan(s) in the power consumption also
Cooling fans have become ever more numerous inside PCs.
There's the power supply with one or two fans, the CPU fan, often another fan venting the case, plus a fan on the graphics card, snap-in HDDs with cooling fans in their enclosers... all these spinning blades are adding plenty to the total power consumption.
People have ignored that for every added bit of computing power there has also been added demands on power for cooling.

I'm not terribly interested in the wattage of the CPU. I'm concerned about the drain the entire system is making on the power.

While this becomes a much more 'spongy' collection of factors and componentry, it would still be handy to compare TOTAL systems, not just the CPUs.

And while on the issue of fans... it is standard practice to have them all sucking air out - with air only getting in through voids in the case walls, corners and through drive bays (some airflow was a requirement of my old CD burtner).
Wouldn't it be more efficient to have at least one of the fans blowing air in, while another sucks air out?
Rather than all the fans fighting against each other, with a vacuum inside the case (higher pressure air will convey more heat as well).
