Cell, new tech? I do not completely agree with that
The Cell systems are not anything really that new; it runs a PowerPC 64bit Core that has 32 bit cores around it. They might be able to do different functions but at the end of the day it is old tech dumped on a single chip, the only really break though bit is the fact that the cores can clone themselves off another core to help with the load if it is not doing anything. And as good as they are and I really think they are good; they heat up like anything and use a lot of power to run. They are not that easy to dev for at the moment because of there 32bit cores interaction and they are not that cheap. AMD might be using old tech but they are doing it in a way to improves on it and not try a re-write the book. Why do you think Intel have lost the plot? IA64, they thought that people would just re-write there code for it and they were wrong. They now have to use AMD?s 64bit tech in there X86 chips.

The true next gen chips will be quantum based with fibre interconnection to completely sold state storage (holographic). That is how I see the future.
