Add more memory to the chip
Hey, way back when NextGEN made the pentium clone that worked, the speed was very fast because NextGen added memory on board the chip.
AMD bought NextGen and that what the 64 and other processor are based upon --- yes --- technology has changed, but it started there.
SO, adding several hundred megabytes or gigabytes to the chip designs will make it blazing fast right out of the box.
Now cool that thing down and you would have a real winner.
It is a known fact that adding external memory has problems as far as speed is concerned due mainly to the fact that it IS EXTERNAL.
Sure allow users to add memory, but don't try to increase speeds with that external memory, cause it just won't happen as desired.
Technology is here and designers should look to adding this internal memory on the same substrate as the processor and you would now only be limited by the external connections.
Imagine a chip with onboard 4GB memory .... might take a person's breath away.
