Alright...
I'm sorry, but a good deal of all of those are... frankly... biased. Beyond all measure of the word. Particularly what comes to mind is that spreadsheet, allegedly comparing the cost of a Windows-run PC versus a Mac.

Who the hell buys a popup blocker? Why is the max time to install Microsoft Office on a Wintel machine higher than the max time to install it on a Mac? Whose computer takes 15 minutes to install anything? Is this guy even aware that Windows comes with an e-mail client and a backup tool? Don't you Mac guys have to restart to install updates? Turning off your computer every night and turning it on when necessary saves electricity, why wasn't that listed?

I will vie for the Windows-run PC platform because I've had good experiences with it. I'm typing this on a five-year old Compaq Presario 1700US notebook. It's got an 850 MHz Pentium III processor, 256 MB of PC100 SDRAM, a 20 GB HDD, a 14.1" TFT screen, and it's running Microsoft Windows XP Professional.

My antivirus is AVG Antivirus Free Edition. My firewall is Free Zonealarm. I use Windows Defender. CCleaner is excellent for cleaning the registry and the rest of your computer. All of these programs are free, I don't get viruses, I don't get spyware, and my computer runs optimally all the time.

Then there are my applications. I use OpenOffice.org 2.0 for my office needs. I use Windows Desktop Search for my desktop search engine. Trillian is my main IM client, Firefox is my main broswer. Paint.NET is my main image editor.

All of these are free.
