Yer funny happy
You wrote: "That's an irrelevant thesis, given that the same PC companies also manufacture Apple's stuff. Quanta, Foxconn, ASUS... all of them manufacture Macs and Dells side by side."

So apparently either Apple chooses more reliable components from the same companies or their OS and software work more reliably with the same hardware.

Take your pick, Apple is still better.

Then you wrote: "Unless you actually know how to properly maintain a PC, in which case you don't get problems."

So my apparent inability to maintain a PC caused all those hard drive, motherboard, processor, memory, power supply, USB subsystem, monitor, keyboard, and mouse problems.

First off, I was the support person and thus not responsible if the user put an electromagnet next to his/her computer.

Secondly, if it was my poor skills, why didn't the Macintoshes suffere just as much?

Try again, skippy.

Then you wrote: "Did you ever bother to consider the idea that the reason they didn't replace their Macs at the same rate they replaced their PC's was because Macs are ludicrously expensive? No, obviously to you, it had to be because 'PC's aren't reliable.'"

Ummmm... the Macs were replaced less often because they ran standard software longer, and thus needed to be replaced less often.

Also, recent studies have shown that comparably equipped Macs cost 10 - 15% more than PCs. That doesn't really square with your phrase "ludicrously expensive," does it?

Next argument, please...

Then you wrote: "Well sir, let me introduce you to an 8-year old Dell Dimension XPS D300 with a 300 MHz Pentium II and 384 MB SDRAM running Windows XP Professional. Or maybe I should introduce you to the 120 MHz NEC Ready that I fixed up and got working."

Congratulations. Should only take you two or three minutes to download this post on that thing. I'll put my 7.5 year old G3 Blue and White running OS 10.4 up against it any day of the week.

Note: I could easily get old systems to run modern software; but what's the use. Most companies are throwing away hardware better than what you described; so why wouldn't I just use that?

Then you wrote: "If you blithely choose to buy and learn about PC's for your computing experience, I guess you're truly 'the most blind of them all.' I would say that the closed-minded zealots who think everyone should buy a Macintosh are pretty blind, but you apparently think otherwise."

Did you miss the part where I told you I've supported and used both PCs and Macs for years? Guess that was an oversight on your part.

In point of fact, lots of PC owners are happy with their computing experience. But *all* the Macintosh users I know are happy with their computing experience.

But even I love it when people I know buy Windows PCs. Because inevitably, it means a consulting job that runs at least $150 to clean up the pop-ups, viruses, or hardware failures they encounter.

And that's all fine with me.

Buh-bye!
