Apple Corps., the main corporation for the Beatles and Apple Records, sued Steve Jobs over the name and logo. They won and insisted on licensing concessions. Apple has violated those concessions and are being hauled back into court over usage.

Using the names of cities (i.e. Chicago) by MS has all but ended and they have gone to animal names (i.e. Longhorn) for precisely the same usage problems. Unless Juniper has already gotten a "go" from Pepsico to use the name, I expect to see some fireworks soon.

Trademark violation suits are the latest flavor in the IP wars. At this point, it's probably not a good idea to name even your dog after anything that *might* be trademarked somewhere. The more generic the name the better is the way to go.
