AMD or INTEL? Does it matter when Dell supply faulty M/B's?
Call me a grumpy old techie if you like, but this
is the simple truth. Dell (and a bunch of other
mainstream PC companies, it's true), bought a bad
batch of capacitors some time back, and these are
now out on the Desk, and have been for a while

I'm stuck maintaining 600+ Dell GX280's. Probably
15% of those have already failed on capacitors,
and have required replacement M/B's. The others
are simply biding their time. Dell's answer to
us when we asked them to replace the equipment en-
masse was evasive to say the least...

Calling them in (via Dells corporate support system) is like drawing impacted wisdom teeth.

Personally, I dont care one whit if it's AMD or
INTEL on the Desktop. I just need it to work.

You may say it is a one-off, and I should shut up.
You may point at the Fujitsu hard-drive debacle of
3/4(?) years ago, and say, see, sh** happens, deal
with it...

Until Dell vastly improves it's QA and Support
Processes, you wont find one replacing any of the
4 Heinz-57 PC's I currently use at home.

And if I had any say in the procurement process
at work, instead of just being the poor sucker who has to support people trying to use them,
Dell head office would have received a large courier delivery, 6 months ago.
