Just in comparison, here's my Dell vs HP support story

A friend's desktop died, in 3 minutes I had diagnosed a dead hard drive, based on the POST data and the sound it made trying to boot. But it was on warranty, so we called the number. After 45 minutes of talking to the guy in India, as he had me taking things apart, connecting other wires, trying this F10, and that CMOS setting, all typical troubleshooting steps according to the manual; he finally agreed that I was probably right, and they'd ship a replacement right away. Great shipping, two days later it arrives, 5 minute install, load OS and apps, works great.

On the other hand, another friend (honest, they really exist) had a kid pour apple juice into the keyboard of her Dell laptop. After four months of calls and sending the laptop to the Service center TWICE, they still had not even determined what was wrong with the thing, or how to fix it! She now owns an Acer. And I'm looking for a dead Inspiron so I can get the keyboard off it and replace her old one.
