True, recent story...
A co-worker of mine just recently bought the lowest-end dual core laptop two weeks ago. It arrived just last Tuesday and the top of the clamshell (is that the correct word?) was totally scratched up when he opened it up. LAME. He talked to a few people in tech support, and they eventually agreed to take the laptop back and ship another one.

I own a Dell Insprion 8200 and I'll buy another one in another year or two, BECAUSE (1)you can get repair manuals for it, and (2)the post-warranty diagnostic tools are just downright cool, IMHO. I recently had to replace my own motherboard fan which I bought from EBay for $15 and now everything is just fine again...
