Just like those 400 dollar jeans a lot of teenagers are wearing. Do you people run up and down the street freaking out at them for "wasting" money when a cheap pair of Levis are just as good? Because that'd be weird if you did.

Macs and iPods have achieved a sort of fashionable status and some people like them, and just like anything else that has a lot to do with product and just like anything else has a lot to do with savvy marketing. Big deal, who cares. The Macbooks are cute, especially that new black one. I also like ThinkPads, they're cute too.
