---You are suggesting that after Apple found out that Creative had a patent for this system, Apple tried to file the exact same patent to protect themselves from Creative's prior art? Odd logic.---

I'm saying that Apple found out that Creative had this absurd and incorrect patent, so part of their protection strategy was to file for something similar. It certainly couldn't hurt.

Well, considering that the interface in the patent was used in the Apple Lisa, not to mention NextStep, is Apple at fault for not filing an incorrect patent?

---You know that Apple sues everyone who infringes on their patents. Why would other companies give Apple a break on this one?---

The difference being that Apple tends to have a legit patent, and tends to win their cases.
