Help detect MAD COW?
How?

They don't even know how a cow gets BSE let alone how they can prevent it. It's just speculation that the feed may be the source but when you have a cows being found with BSE that are not being fed that suspect feed yet still get BSE how do you explain that?

I think it just happens like other diseases. BSE is related to Cronic Wasting disease found in deer and elk. Now deer and elk expell wastes in grass fields that the cattle feed on. Couldn't that be a possible source of the disease? I'm not scientist here but why not look in to that?

Now I have a theory on why they don't want to look at that. Money. If it was found that simply eating the grass that infected deer expelled waste on caused the disease means there is no way to stop cows from getting infected at very young age. This would mean mandatory testing of every slaughtered animal would be needed and that cost money. They figure between $30-$70 per head of cattle. Now if you have a herd of 5000 head of cattle that's $150,000-350,000. That's a lot of money gone out of the beef industry and they don't like that idea.
