It definitely is one of the larger differentiators (though I still maintain MS got it right with XBox LIVE.) I'm waiting to pass judgement on the hard drive decision until more info is available. If they go flash ram only, but make it a decent amount of it, this may be a non-issue. I've had my xbox since the day it was released and i have a ton of cr@p on the hard drive, including most downloadables made available for LIVE games, etc. and I haven't scratched the surface of the hd. Some developers are making use of it, but the vast majority are not. If they can set up the next XBox with, say, 1GB flash ram, that should still be more than enough to handle all the game saves and downloadable updates they can muster.

If they turn around and make no flash ram built in (or very little) and go the way of mem cards as the only option, then that will suck.
