Don't think that's only reason...
..But you do have half a point there. Many folks are using XBOXs to convert them to very cheap Linux computers. And btw, its not all that hard to do at all (sorry I'm just tired of the crap that floats the www about how smart or genius someone is to do something that turns out to be not that difficult...turning xbox into a linux box was one such rumor I've heard numerous times...people its cake to do..don't let anyone fool you).

Ok sorry..lol but BESIDES the linux reason, a flashdrive does make practical sense and business sense to be honest. First off you have faster access time with the flash storage option---MUCH faster. Also lower cost.

I also read there will be much more storage space than what the 8 gb drive offered...so combine all that--cheaper, bigger, faster...I think the linux assumption alone is being prematurely and overly critical of the MS decision to nix the HDD in Xbox 2.
