Swatting flies with sledge hammer
It doesn't work well usually destory everything else except the fly.

That's the point I get from Cybers post.

So Movie studios are spending thousands of dollars if no millions to stop a small limited problem. So if you spend $1000 to stop theft in store of $1 item you have lost more than if you just let that $1 item go.

In the end who does the cost get passed on to? The consumer. So TV prices go up, content prices go up, and so on. Well they can't just keep wasting money on stupid ideas and raising the price. Consumers have limited income, eventually they just stop buying, possibly even componding the problem. Creating more flies due to the ruins being caused by the sledghammer.
