they tried that actually
and pulled them about 6 months later. Actually had a SGI machine running ArcView GIS suite, ran NT 4 on it.

Irix was a great server OS, but it was so darned expensive. I still have my O2 IRIX webserver sitting at the house, still runs fine though I don't really use it for anything.
