Unlike your mental spell-checker...
"actually" is the correct spelling.

As for the slant on Linux, do you know how many turn-key and embedded systems out there use Linux that "actualy" work just fine? Hell, I've got voicemail systems still running OS/2 Warp with more uptime than many Windows servers out there.

Using Linux would have saved up to $100, or more. Considering how much some people make in Third World countries where these laptops are intended, that is a LOT of money.

Also consider that these computers are to be used in an educational setting. If you "actualy" had been in one once in your life you would realize that they don't necessarily need to be able to run Windows applications.

Face it - Linux works. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it isn't any good or is unstable. And if bringing down the costs is the primary consideration, than pulling Windows off is the best way to reduce costs.

And if you start barking that Windows would only reduce the cost of the laptop by less than $100 - why in the hell are you letting Microsoft screw you for several hundred $$$ every time you purchase XP on a new system!?!?!?
