Have you considered both?
A laptop plays MP3s but is hardly an "MP3 Player". A Tungsten E combined with a laptop may do everything you want, teamed up with a 128MB SD card that'll hold about 25 songs.

I love my PDA 'cos I can do all my meeting schedules in meetings - no more "I'll check my calendar and get back to you", book it there and then. Same for contacts, then sync with your laptop. Even better if you get your phone to sync too so your address book (or selected components of it) is on all 3 devices. Teaming with a laptop means you don't need a portable keyboard for heavy duty data entry and can have full versions of your office suite and other software. It also provides much better internet capabilty that a PDA.

The Tungsten E also comes with "Documents To Go", a Word, Excel and PowerPoint viewer/editor that is rated higher than Microsoft's own Pocket versions by some reviewers.

No, I don't have an E but perhaps you can tell I'm saving for one!
