Intel bound to loose money
At least in the major markets of South America.

Every techie knows that AMD is better and its cheaper and markets in 3rd World countries are money driven. 400 is too high. Currently you can build a 280 dollar Athlon or a 1000 X2 AMD.
I wonder who would even care for INTEL?

Having lived in Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Uruguay for over 15 years since 1992. What impresses me is that there are more techie savy people in South America than here in the US, as software that is readily available through piracy (which is bad), enables a lot more users to be proficient at standards apps through specialty ones. So on average, after reviewing the performance of Intel products first hand, most opt for the lower cost and better alternative AMD. Most homes in South America (not Central America which is heavily influenced by US policies) are currently bying their third to fourth generation computer. When here in the US most homes are only on their second or third. Most homes over there have self built computers as few even consider buying a HP or Acer cause of price and less so a IBM, Gateway and DELL is not even heard of. Yes some companies will pay for these items, but schools and Universities rather buy what they call "chanchos" which are self built units using very low cost components.

Distributors buy cpu's buy the 1000's and motherboards, cases come from Brazil, Argentina and China and the BIOS are burnt locally. Memory where ever the cheapest deal is, even if these are auction salvage units. These are not the same quality of computers we get in the US, but they get the job done, at a fraction of the cost.

An AMD Sempron cpu using a PCCHips motherboard with 3rd degree quality parts can cost under 180 dollars. Where does Intel think they can compete with a Celeron or equivalent CPU? everyone is aware that Celeron is a on application processor and they stay away from it like if it was the plague!

Intel is going to loose 1 billion, so keep on shorting the stock. Until Intel comes up with better engineering in their products, they are doomed. I haven't used a single Intel Chip since Athlon came along and have influenced the purchase of over 60000 cpus in the past 17 years. I promoted Intel up through 500MHz, but ever since then, it was clear that AMD offered a better product, so Intel has lost a client in me and those I advise.
