- Pricing (the key to everything)

And frankly, it ain't all that great with this first Samsung device. Seems to me that $600 to $800 would've been a better launch point (with emphasis on the lower number).
I admit the FF of an Origami unit is quite tempting and appealing to me, and while I can afford the cost of this unit I still have a tough time justifying[/] it given the pricing of regular laptops and even full-blown Tablet PCs these days. If this Samsung was built like an indestructable rock instead of something akin to a limp-wristed PSP maybe I'd be an early adopter even with its rather anemic--when compared to laptop alternatives--Celeron. 3.5 hrs of battery charge life (probably in ideal conditions at that) isn't much to rave about either.
I actually enjoy working on a Tablet PC, but I'd prefer a FF that's more in line with my iPaq from a portability standpoint. To me the size of the Origami concept makes perfect sense, but the devil is still very much in its details. From what I've seen and been reading that's where the hangups are, even for someone like me that's willing to give the benefit of the doubt to yet another MSFT answer to a question that few if any never really thought was worth asking. - Posted by: flatliner Posted on: 05/02/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
