1. No mention of layoffs? Did the author read the quote from Otellini or just paste it into the article:

"We are going to restructure, resize and repurpose Intel to adjust to the business realities of today and tomorrow."

What does "resize" mean if not headcount?

2. Unit performance

"Intel plans to implement changes immediately as issues, such as underperforming business units, are discovered."

They don't already know which business units are preforming well? They have to know this to compile their financial statements each quarter.

3. Bottleneck in chipset inventory?

"The company is also releasing Broadwater, a new desktop chipset, in an effort to attack a bottleneck of chipset inventory."

Intel can't keep up with demand? This used to be said about AMD. Intel is losing market share, but still can't keep up with chipset demand? Something doesn't jive here.

4. Giving Ottelini credit?

'Feibus said Otellini is making the right move by making cuts now rather than postponing them until problems worsen. "You've got to give Otellini credit for taking the bull by the horns and understanding the environment today," Feibus said.'

This is the clincher. A clearly *reactive* move is getting spun as "taking the bull by the horns". If anything, Ottelini is to blame for having waited too long. AMD has been taking large bites out of Intel marketshare for two years now, and this guy credits him for making a move? Another overpaid exec defrauding shareholders via his compensation package.
