Mediocre = good enough for unwashed masses
Folks like us are a relative minority and not the targeted audience. They want the average Joe/Jane who doesn't know how to install & configure this equipment and doesn't want to take the time to learn how. Asus/nVidia already offers something similar...I bought a new Asus MB for my Athlon chip a few weeks ago and it's got a slot on it where I can plug in a $20 card with antenna and turn the PC into an access point. You know what? I almost gave in just to see if it was 'good enough', but decided not to since I've already got a good WAP. Many people will settle for a little less performance & reliability if it's cheap enough. I think Netgear is a *little* more concerned than they're letting on...
