You nailed it. Wireless is a band aid for not wanting/being able to hard wire. I can see this is a hard-wired house, with a computer the size of the original IBM's partitioned to do specialized things so more than one thing can be processed at a time (overkill to make a point).
Leave wireless to mobile computing, that's where it makes the most sense.

Cheeeez, how may people still can't program a VCR? Even with the system where one just enters a number. I'm surprised some can switch between TV & VCR.
