- Ah, but for the money

I just built a new computer, used a top end MB, CD & DVD, 1 gig RAM, good graphics board (no games, but photo darkroom), attractive case (Antec Sonata), used the on-board sound (dolby 5.1, 6 channel). Cost--$1,400. I still need my Toshiba $1,000 home theater center to play high quality DVD's, CD's, & VCR's. Can't hook all these up to my computer & get the power to drive the big screen HDTV. Another post pointed out dedicated PC's are needed to multi-task---I'm not going to throw out $700 to $1400 per machine to get what I get in a $1,000 toshiba unit. I'd like to lay back in my recliner & surf the web on my 50" TV, but have been told that TV's make lousy moniters. If you want to stare at a moniter & play games-great; sometimes I prefer to learn from the history channels, DIY channels, etc., and it is much better in a recliner with a 50" TV.
So, sounds to me as if you are the one who is willing to settle for mediocre just to hug your PC. You really need to change your handle "no-axe-to-grind". - Posted by: Middle of the Road Posted on: 09/21/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
