After two Optiplex PC's
hard drives cratered, barely a year old, within a two week period, both containing the cheapest hard drives money can buy - Maxtors, I have sworn off Dell.

When a company buys a business class PC, they expect good quality components, not the cheapest on the market. Plus all of the junk software Dell bundles takes an hour to uninstall before the PC is ready for serious use. If Dell wants to sell cheap stuff, a decline in market share is all they can expect.

One thing surprised me though. Both support calls were answered by an English speaking individual in Nova Scotia. And after only 20 minutes the decision was made to ship the replacement hard drives which arrived overnight. HOWEVER, they were refurbished WD's and not new drives. Although I suspect refurbished WD's are a step up from new Maxtors.
