Don't bother holding the door open for Intel
I doubt Intel has any interest in getting back in at Sun. Much like Dell has partnered with Intel, Sun has partnered with AMD.

Only a foolish Intel will share next gen info with Sun to "win them back". If I were Intel mgmnt, I would just let Sun continue the death spiral they are in now anyway.

The root of Sun's problems is with Scott McNeally. So encumbered with his history of fighting Intel with Sparc, his judgement on what is best for Sun is clouded. Too bad. If Sun were to rediscover their software roots, like they should, they would be in much better shape. They have their fingers in so many pies (Java, HW, X86, Sparc, Solaris,..) they alienate the everyone they can collaborate with to be successful.
