Giga-Byte
I want to build one but I am unsure about the best mobo to use.

I just got done building a box with a Giga-byte K8N51GMF-9 board. Contrary to a LOT of the reviews I've seen, the board is rock solid stable, has a TON of features like SATA 2 (the latest!) and SATA RAID 0,1, and 5. It's got support for up to 8 channels of audio, firewire, gigabit ethernet built in, PCIe 16x and 1x slots, and a pair of regular PCI slots. Tons of USB ports, etc... It supports everything in the socket 939 class family from Athlon64's to x2's.

It's got a LOT of bang for the buck. For a general purpose box, I'd most certainly buy another one again.

Visit http://www.giga-byte.com/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=1939 for more info
