Smear is TOTALLY FAIR: Louie G., Sammy P,

IBM and the Personal Computer Industry was infiltrated by mafia years ago with the Motorola PowerPC deal. In an attempted coup, Dr. Edward Staiano of Motorola Computer Group intended to get things going 'differently' in the personal computer industry by an attempted overthrow of the WIntel duopoly, & so IBM (& to some extent...Apple) sold it's soul to the devil around 1989-1990.

A bit of little known history: the devil in IT & Telecom is Motorola...which in case you didn't know is headquartered in the suburbs of Chicago in Schaumberg, Ill. They were at one time the power epicenter for the US-based Italian technology mafia created in the early turn of the last century. In the 80's they had huge manufacturing facilities in favorite retirement communities for organized crime bosses like Phoenix, Az (Tempe).
However, little about them has been written since the 1970's, when Don Bolles made his war against organized crime a personal affair. He testified before Congress about the Mafia's tentacles and identified Arizona mobsters by name in his news articles. It's been about a quarter-century after a car bomb took the Phoenix journalist's life.

Motorola historically was created & grew quickly during Prohibition days when Motorola [AKA Galvin Manufacturing Corp.] invented police radio receivers to sell to organized crime leaders so they could intercept police radio). It was the 2nd time the mafia had invested in technology to gain competitive advantage (the first time was to invest in machine gun manufacturing...AKA the "Tommy Gun").

Fast forwarding to the early 90's, directly out of another mafia controlled industry (tobacco) came Louie G to head IBM. Accredited for a turnaround of a US company considered to be a national treasure, all Louie really did was cook the IBM books, manipulate IBM stock with huge buybacks, and rob the pension plan. Sammy P. continues today by paying 34 lobbyists in Washington D.C. to try to steal the remainder of the IBM Retiree Pension by converting pensioners promised annuities to tiny lump sums at a fraction of their worth. Congressmen like now-House Leader John Boehner are happy to take their money whereever it comes from & encourage the theft with the fountain pens of select congressmen.

Pensions have always been a favorite mafia target.
Historically, they bullied union bosses into skimming from union-controlled pension funds. To a large extent, the bad name that some unions have received is because they were favorite mafia targets.

Today, other company employees from unionized companies like UPS, Delta, GM, etc. are about to be pilfered like no other time in history with Boehner's H.R. 2830 (John Boehner took $76,700 from UPS in contributions to help UPS eliminate their pension obligations this year.)

Non-union companies like IBM & parts of AT&T & Verizon are happy to lead the way in pension freezes & broken promises. With a Republican Congress in control, it would be hard to stop them short of a civil war started by "pensioners gone postal" with nothing to lose.

Other Congressmen know better than to trust IBM, Motorola, & other American companies who have sold out or tolerate widespread organizational corruption. Often, due to management ineptitude, they finally sink on their own.

Motorola sank like a brick when it started the Iridium project. Under Staiano's leadership, Iridium lost billions of dollars. They tried to raise themselves from the dead with deals with another devil: Communist China...12 Iridium Satellites have been launched from Taiyuan Launch Center, China in 6 (of a total 18) launches with a mixture of U.S. & Chinese missile technology.

Mafia money to invest in technology knows no bounds, and many in our Congress are happy to take it, no matter what the reprecussions are. America's future security is being sold out in many dimensions with complicated deals that an elite few think can be contained & controlled. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Absolute power & money corrupts; and power & money corrupts: absolutely. Wake up Americans; your safety is being sold by many of your congressional leaders who stand to make the most money from corporations who in the name of globalization are willing to sell your personal safety for the next incremental dollar of profit & management bonus.
