I'm a PC user with very little Apple background. However, i must contest that Dell, Microsoft and Intel rule the roost.

First, more AMD based systems were sold than Intel systems last year. AMD makes a stronger, cooler processor, and for less.

While Dell and Microsoft may still have the current edge on paper, they still aren't perfect...

...Now i actually like Microsoft, so I'm not bashing them. They do, however have a lot of issues. It will be 5 years since their last OS publication by the time Vista comes out. At that point everyone in the world will scramble to get it because they believe it has what they've been missing all along. Then they have to deal with hardware/driver compatibility and the sort that goes with that. The truth, W2K is all anybody really needs. XP is just prettier.

...And for Dell. How can anybody trust a company who has a statement published on their website stating they only use Intel based on performance tests and product reliability. They must have been reading white papers from the early 90s. AMD has consistently outperfomed Intel for the last 10 years. Is Dell growing? Yes. Are they a good investment? Sure. But how long will a computer company last if they don't let the nerds make some decisions every once and a while. Their execs are doing everything right except for making sure they make powerful computers, something a computer company should be doing anyways.
