- This only works with Open Source.
- Companies building 1,000 node clusters want to be able to tweak the OS. They for sure would not want to work with MS and beg them for each and every feature, wait 6 months, then have then see MS jack up the prices and make all the profits. Also, these companies do not have the money develop an OS in house, or the money to pay for 1,000 copies of an OS, either Window or Unix. Well, that said, Apple must be giving away the darwin kernel (also open source) for the Mac cluster at Virginia Polytechnic.
